Looking to capitalize on the need for visual systems in robotics, video analytics and interactive systems, Orbbec has launched an artificial intelligence (AI) deep learning 3D stereo vision system at CES 2024.
Dubbed Gemini 2 XL, the camera boasts accurate and reliable data in various lighting conditions, even during pitch black nighttime. The camera will enable robot designers to access visual data featuring:
- RGB-D quality
- Direct sunlight operation
- Outdoor operation
- AI for calculating environmental conditions
- No costly vision processors
The AI-driven recognition and tracking applications require detection of small objects while improving high-reflectivity environments. The deep learning algorithm generates a complete phase map around small objects and fixtures that overcome traditional algorithms that struggle with shadow, speckle pattern size, illumination and more.
“As Orbbec’s learning library continues to expand, the camera’s capabilities will continue to improve, broadening their applicability in robotics and AI-based vision solutions,” said David Chen, co-founder and head of products at Orbbec.
Additionally, Orbbec is offering dedicated 3D vision and custom solutions for robotics through its R&D, in-house manufacturing and supply chain.
