Renesas standardizes PCB design on Altium platform

29 June 2023

Renesas Electronics Corp. has standardized development of all printed circuit board (PCB) design on the Altium 365 cloud-based platform from software vendor Altium LLC.

Renesas employs multiple PCB design tools and integrates electronic components from different vendors. Unifying one PCB design tool will help to streamline board designs used for demonstrating and evaluating product kits. Additionally, this helps in reducing the complexity of PCBs, an improved cost structure and faster time to market.

The Altium 365 platform allows engineers to collaborate with other vendors while maintaining IP security and keeping design under revision control. Designs, libraries and participants are in one place with links to design for real-time collaboration. Data is stored and accessed online.

Renesas said it will continue to support ECAD design platforms other than Altium and provide ECAD libraries for other ECAD tools as needed.
