MediaTek has introduced a new chipset for 5G smartphones that supports higher clock speeds than previous chipsets.
Called the Dimensity 9200+, the chipset combines one ultra-core Arm Cortex-X3 microprocessor operating at up to 3.35 GHz, three Arm Cortex-A715 super cores running up to 3.0 GHz and four Arm Cortex-A510 efficiency cores at 2.0 GHz.
Other features of the chipset include:
- HyperEngine 6.0
- Manufactured on TSMC’s 4 nm-class process technology
- APU 690 AI processing unit
- MediaTek Imagiq 890 image signal processor
- MediaTek MiraVision 890 display IC
- MediaTek 5G UltraSave 3.0 power management software
Additionally, the chipset has a 4CC-CA 5G modem that switches between long-reach sub-6 GHz and millimeter wave (mmWave) connections. It also supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, Bluetooth Low Energy and other wireless peripherals.
MediaTek said smartphones powered by the Dimensity 9200+ are expected to be unveiled this month.
