Video: First Matter over Thread smart lights launched

23 March 2023

Smart home vendor Nanoleaf has introduced what it claims is the world’s first Matter over Thread smart lighting system, launching three new products available for pre-order.

The Matter-compatible smart lights include an A19 bulb and lightstrips that includes a seamless setup and control. The smart lights offer crisp white lighting and rich RGB colors.

The Matter line runs over Thread for fast speeds for the smart home using a mesh network. The lights could be used in the living room, office space, bedroom, kitchen and entertainment areas. The lights feature color temperatures from 2,700 K to 6,500 K and up to 2,200 lumens and more than 16 million vibrant colors.

The lights works with all smart home apps such as Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Samsung SmartThings.

Additionally, the lights can be detailed for specific scenes to improve ambience or turn on circadian lighting to automatically adjust the lighting throughout the day.

Existing Nanoleaf modular light panels and light bars will receive over-the-air updates this year to become Matter-compatible.
