Swedish electric motorcycle vendor Cake will develop an electric, semi-autonomous, all-terrain four-wheel vehicle designed for regenerative farming.
Called Kibb, the electric ATV is designed to handle light agricultural tasks autonomously with minimal impact to ecosystems. The company plans to have the ATV in production by 2025.
Why an autonomous ATV for farming? The machines used currently contribute to global greenhouse gas emissions, but these farms are vital for healthy food cultivation. The goal with Kibb is to create a lower impact agricultural transport option for sustainable farming, the company said.
How it will work
Cake said the Kibb will be a multi-functional battery-powered ATV that can be operated by a human or remotely. The ATV will allow for different attachment points so it can provide farmers with different options for use such as a mobile power station or help with day-to-day duties for regenerative agricultural life.
Cake is working with farmers from disciplines such as organic farming, permaculture and regenerative agriculture so that the ATV can be used across numerous sectors. Additionally, the company will be investigating the problems farmers face today and how an electric, semiautonomous ATV can be used to help these problems.
