German car parts maker ZF has acquired a 6% stake in StradVision, a move that will help the company expand its portfolio of perception software for automated driving.
The deal with StradVision will help ZF to extend its autonomous driving perception and sensor fusion capabilities and the vision perception software from StradVision will be a key component to ZF’s sensors for shuttles, commercial and light vehicles.
StradVision’s SVNet software allows vehicles to detect and identify objects even in hard weather or poor lighting conditions. This means the software can detect other vehicles, pedestrians, animals, free space, traffic signs and lights.
The software uses deep learning perception algorithms that use a small amount of memory and low power consumption. The software supports a wide range of hardware platforms and can be customized for other hardware systems. The software is currently being used for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous vehicles.
ZF is developing autonomous driving solutions for the automotive and mobility sectors and its portfolio includes high performance computers such as the ZF ProAI, automotive software for ADAS and automated driving functions such as camera, radar and lidar sensors.
