Indigo Technologies introduced at CES 2022 two new vehicles aimed at the rideshare and delivery markets.

The electric vehicles (EVs), called Flow and Flow Plus, include robotic wheels that allow the EVs a smoother ride and more room to operate compared to other vehicles in its class, the company said.

Both EVs provide more than 250 miles of range with only a 40 kWh battery.

Indigo said the growth of on-demand deliveries and ridesharing is leading to many companies developing EVs for this purpose to meet pending climate regulations. Heavy EVs are too inefficient and expensive for many drivers but reducing the weight of these vehicles often means sacrificing space, the company said.

The robotic wheels of the Indigo vehicles enable more space for small urban SUVs. Without a transmission and a motor between the wheels, the Flow vehicles provide a flat floor for more cargo space.

The company did not indicate when the vehicles will be available or how it plans to distribute the vehicles to the public or ride hailing companies such as Uber or Lyft.
