QuickLogic Corp. has introduced an embedded field programmable gate array (eFPGA) intellectual property (IP) generator that adds features and capabilities required for designing IP quickly and cost effectively.

Called Australis, the software tool is based on the OpenFPGA IP generator and provides ASIC and system-on-chip developers an automated way to define and implement customized eFPGA IP for projects.

eFPGAs enable a multitude of reprogrammable use cases such as supporting new standards with the same silicon, customized implementations for IP protection, offloading and hardware acceleration of artificial intelligence/machine learning workloads or creating a range of product variants.

QuickLogic said the benefits to customers include:

  • Faster time to market
  • Flexibility to meet SoC design requirements
  • Reduced cost
  • Foundry support
  • Easy integration
