Embedded intelligent property (IP) vendor QuickLogic Corp. has joined the Samsung Advanced Foundry Ecosystem (SAFE) and its newly released ArticPro 3 embedded field programmable gate array (eFPGA) technology is available for Samsung foundry customers using its 28 nm fully depleted silicon on insulator (FD-SOI) process.
The ArcticPro 3 eFPGA IP was designed to work on Samsung’s 28 FD-SOI process to give a boost in performance and deliver ultra-low standby current leakage. The IP is developed with a reprogrammable fabric architecture based on super logic cells (SLCs) consisting of eight LUT4 register blocks and uses hierarchical routing for computation heavy, battery powered or other power sensitive products.
The eFPGA IP also includes the option to integrate fixed function blocks such as embedded RAM and fracturable multiply-accumulate (MAC) blocks for neural networks and other intensive circuits foundational in artificial intelligence and machine learning applications.
QuickLogic’s eFPGA IP has been implemented previously in multiple end markets such as consumer electronics, internet of things, military and industrial automation system-on-chips, microprocessors and discrete FPGAs.
The SAFE IP partner program delivers key design components including process design kits, reference flows with design methodologies, IP and design support for Samsung’s foundry process technologies.
