At CES 2021, Panasonic has introduced two variants to its in-vehicle wireless charging technology that can be used in any vehicle.
The variants — moving coil and static coil — provide in-vehicle charging that meet or exceed most current in-vehicle charging systems, Panasonic said. There is a growing need for wireless connectivity in vehicles with the introduction of new technology inside vehicles for navigation, apps and music that require consistent power. However, the majority of vehicle charging systems remain wired or tethered, the company said.
Panasonic’s moving coil charge variant moves into the optimum position to align with the mobile device’s charging coil, delivering 15 W of charging power, which the company claims is one of the fastest charging times on the market and rivals wired/tethered systems.
The charging technology features a better thermal trajectory range across longer periods of charging times and can be connected via NFC or Wi-Fi to make/receive phone calls and app use as normal.
The charging system can be integrated into any in-vehicle platform regardless of make or model, allowing companies to add the technology to future versions of vehicles.
