Source: MurataJapanese component manufacturer Murata has introduced a new series of micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) inertial sensors for safety automotive applications.

The SCC3000 series combines X-axis, Z-axis and XZ-axis angular rate sensors and a three-axis accelerometer based on Murata’s capacitive 3D MEMS technology. The MEMS could be used for electronic stability control and is pin compatible with common SPI interfaces.

The MEMS meet the needs for electrified drivetrains that require new technology for brake actuation and can handle shock and vibration requirements coming from integrated brake systems.

Other features include bias stability, low noise level, ±300°/s angular rate measurement range for robust sensing in harsh environments, ±6 g acceleration measurement range, ±15 g auxiliary acceleration measurement range, user selectable filter setting of 13, 20, 46, 200 or 300 Hz and is ISO26262 compliant for systems up to automotive safety integrity level D (ASIL-D).

The SCC3000 series can be used in automotive safety applications such as electronic stability control, headlight alignment, roll over and roll stability control, dynamic chassis control, lane keeping assistance and motion and navigation measurement.
