3-axis MEMS accelerometer for industrial condition-monitoring systems

31 March 2020

ST Microelectronics has introduced a new vibration sensing solution designed to enable smart maintenance of factory equipment.

The IIS3DWB vibration sensor is a three-axis microelectromechanical system (MEMS) accelerometer for industrial vibration sensing that along with the STEVAL-STWINKT1 multi-sensor evaluation kit accelerates development of condition-monitoring systems.

The ability to analyze sensed vibration data locally or in the cloud helps industrial manufacturers strategize to maximize uptime, minimize servicing costs and avoid emergency repairs.

The evaluation kit simplifies prototyping and testing by integrating the vibration sensor with other sensors, ultra-low-power microcontroller and algorithms for vibration processing as well as Bluetooth wireless module and USB connection.

The kit comes housed in a plastic enclosure with a battery, the kit is ready to begin application development for high-speed data-logger and cloud-dashboard utilities included to help collect, analyze and visualize the results.
