The software is part of Keysight’s 5G network emulation solution portfolio, which leverages the UXM 5G Wireless Test Platform to address device development workflow from early design to acceptance and manufacturing. The platform is a compact solution that scales for mobile device verification and certification across radio frequency (RF), radio resource management (RRM) and protocol. According to Keysight, users can use the platform to certify new designs in both FR1 (sub-6GHz frequencies) in conducted test environments and FR2 (mmWave frequencies) in over-the-air (OTA) test environments that integrate chambers including Keysight's Compact Antenna Test Range (CATR).
Collaboration on 5G technology between Keysight and NTT DOCOMO began in 2015, with the goal of developing millimeter-wave (mmWave) technology for effective deployment of enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB). In August 2018, the two companies extended their collaboration by leveraging Keysight's 5G network emulation solutions to characterize and validate new 5G NR mobile devices. In December of that same year, Keysight announced that its 5G Conformance Test Toolset was the first to gain approval for 5G NR device certification by certification forum PTCRB.
