New Yorker Electronics to distribute conduction-cooled capacitors with new mounting option

10 April 2019

New Yorker Electronics has expanded its lineup of conduction-cooled capacitors by distributing the new HC series of self-healing polypropylene film conduction-cooled resonant capacitors with direct mounting options. New Yorker Electronics has also featured the Illinois Capacitor line of HC and LC conduction-cooled capacitor series prior to the recent modification.

The new HC series are compact rectangular block types, now with direct mounting options. The new 2SM6 Source: New Yorker ElectronicsSource: New Yorker Electronicsdirect-mount uses a through-hole design that is compatible with many current applications. Available in the HC1, HC2, HC3A and HC3B, the new mounting configuration provides the highest level of heat transfer and connectivity. It also eliminates the need for mounting hardware, directly mounting to bus bars. The standard HC series is still available as well.

These HC and LC devices are a fit for resonant power circuitry with very high current demands. They are rated at up to 1,200 amps RMS and 1,100 V AC. Depending on the capacitance, they are compatible with resonant circuits ranging from 9 kHz to 1 MHz, with standard capacitance values that range from 0.05 µF to 37 µF. Because corona can be a problem within a capacitor during high-power RF applications, the dielectrics used in both series are impregnated to prevent this issue.

The LC series (LC1, LC2, LC3, LC4, LC5, LC6) capacitors have flat copper plates to allow safe handling of the current and voltage in resonant power circuits. Illinois Capacitor’s conduction-cooled capacitors incorporate self-healing polypropylene film construction. They are halogen-free, ROHS-compliant and meet UL94V0 flame retardant standards. Applications include induction heating, resonant power supplies, RF amplifiers, medical imaging systems, welding equipment and electric vehicle charging stations.

New Yorker Electronics is a franchise distributor for Illinois Capacitor and provides its full product line of miniature capacitors for electronics, lighting, energy and other markets including aluminum electrolytic, metalized film, power film, supercapacitors (ultra capacitors), supercapacitor modules and other types. New Yorker Electronics also supplies the IC RJD series rechargeable coin cell battery.
