CES 2019: Avnet showcases IoT offerings for prototyping and wearables

04 January 2019

Avnet Inc. is pushing its internet of things (IoT) agenda at the upcoming tradeshow CES 2019, to be held in Las Vegas from Jan. 8-11.

The distributor will showcase its end-to-end IoT capabilities for use in prototyping and the development of solutions centered on IoT including wearables, Raspberry Pi-powered devices and more.

The company will showcase its Azure Sphere MT3620 starter kit that helps product developers overcome challenges faced with bringing Azure-based IoT products to market. The kit includes connectivity and sensor options for OT and edge devices that can connect to Microsoft’s Azure platform.

Avnet will introduce its SmartEdge Agile IoT device that enables artificial intelligence (AI) and security at the edge. The device uses the STM32 microcontroller from ST Microelectronics along with the Octonion Brainium AI software to be used in applications such as predictive maintenance and remote monitoring devices.

Avnet will also preview its SmartEdge industrial IoT gateway, which is a customized Raspberry Pi-powered device for applications in the home and for industrial automation applications that need strong security.

Finally, back in September of 2018, Avnet announced its partnership with Not Impossible Labs to introduce new wearable technology that will be used for the deaf community. The company will showcase its Music: Not Impossible brand that includes a lightweight vest, wristbands and ankle bands with Vibrotextile technology that creates sensory experiences for both the deaf and for concert goers.

Avnet will be at CES 2019 at Booth 2609 in Tech East of Westgate Las Vegas Resort.
