While nearly half of the workforce may be replaced by robots by 2035 as advancements in artificial intelligence and technology enable these machines to do the menial and more complex tasks humans currently do, one of the areas that was presumed to be safe was in the realm of theater and art.
But that might not be the case at all.
According to entertainment news portal Deadline, director Tony Kaye is casting a robot enabled with artificial intelligence as the lead actor in his next film called “2nd Born.”
Kaye previously directed the film “American History X” among others and said he is aiming to cast a real robot, who will be trained in different acting methods and techniques, for the role. The robot will not be generated through computer effects but will be an actual robot, Deadline reported.
The film will be the sequel to the indie comedy “1st Born” that was directed by Ali Atshani. The sequel will be released by Lotus Entertainment and centers on a young married couple having pregnancy woes. Deadline said several of the original cast members from the first film will reprise their roles for the next installment.
