Smart locks have become a staple of the smart home with the ability to enter a home without a key.
Startup KeyWe made some waves recently by funding a successful Kickstarter campaign where the company raised about $600,000 in 40 days. Now, the company is offering its smart lock in the next phase in an Indiegogo campaign for consumers to purchase the lock before shipping begins, which the company said will begin in August.
The KeyWe smart lock is designed to offer a number of ways to access entry to a home including through a wireless smartphone app, Bluetooth, near-field communication (NFC), Wi-Fi Bridge, Native Z-wave, touchpad access and naturally through a key.
The lock allows for up to 20 passcodes per door lock to be used allowing each member of the family to have their own code and be tracked as well as the ability to give codes to extended family, babysitters or other people that frequently visit the house. The lock also offers one-time passcodes for couriers or others that only require temporary access to the home.
The technology uses 128-bit AES encryption for the connection between the KeyWe app and the door lock. This means the signals between the app and hardware are encrypted and constantly updated to ensure constant security. KeyWe said data access is also restricted and if any rooting is detected, the app will block logins and delete all data.
The lock itself is built with an Ansi Grade 2 deadbolt and if there is a breach, an alarm will sound and notifications will be sent to the user via the smartphone app.
The KeyWe smart lock is currently available on Indiegogo.
