New Connector Catalog to Streamline PCB Design

08 August 2017

Screenshot of SnapEDA interface.Screenshot of SnapEDA interface.A collaboration between interconnect product supplier Global Connector Technology (GCT) and SnapEDA, an online parts library for circuit board design, has produced an extensive digital catalog of connector symbols and footprints.

The new catalog is intended to streamline the design process. Connectors often play a highly time-consuming role in printed circuit board design because of factors such as non-standard shapes, non-circular pads and lack of patterns in pins and cutouts. Available connectors include USB, SIM card, FFC, modular jack, lighting, DC power jack and smart card.

Designers visiting the SnapEDA parts library or the GCT website can download a free connector model for their selected printed circuit board design tool, then drag and drop the model onto their design. A variety of major PCB software formats are supported, including Altium, OrCad, Allegro, Eagle, PADS, DXDesigner and KiCad.

SnapEDA works with semiconductor and electronic product vendors to provide digital component models in all major CAD formats. A proprietary verification technology is used to auto-verify each model.
