Calling the product “the future for more creative freedom and greatly reduced set-up time and cost,” Barco merges art and technology to give audiovisual designers and integrators more options when designing digital signage, theme park attractions, museum displays and more.

The panels measure only 5 mm thick including louvers. Available in sheets up to 4.68 meters long, the digital media canvas is designed to cover any surface, with none of the gaps or bezels of traditional LED tile walls. Cabling, control and power electronics are fully integrated onto every sheet to virtually eliminate cable clutter. The power supply unit can be removed for service or replacement.

The R-series panels weigh less than 6 kg per square meter, or up to 75% lighter than traditional LED walls, eliminating the need for a heavy weight-load support and enabling use of the technology on historic buildings, moving vehicles and more. The R-series panels can be glued onto a surface or wrapped around a curved shape, including subway tunnels or theater stage sets.

The system supports SNMP to export monitoring data, but sends automatic failure alerts and status notifications as well to minimize operational risk.

Barco launched the outdoor-rated R10, with a 10mm pixel pitch, at InfoComm 2016 in Las Vegas. Additional models are planned for the future to accommodate indoor and outdoor digital signage and display needs.
