Electronic Component Maker CTS Closing Elkhart Plant

07 June 2016

Sensor and electronic component vendor CTS will phase out production at its Elkhart, Indiana, production facility as part of additional reorganizational changes the company is undertaking.

The company, which provides components for the aerospace, communications, defense, industrial, information technology, medical and transportation markets, began a “simplification strategy” in 2013. The closing of the Elkhart plant, which will begin next year until it is phased out by mid-2018, is part of additional restructuring the company is undertaking.
The closing of the facility will eliminate about 230 jobs, and the plant will transition into a research and development (R & D) center to support the company’s global operations, CTS says. Kieran O’Sullivan, CEO of CTS, says the move to close the plant is in “the best interest of our company, our customers and our shareholders in the long term.”
The R & D center will focus on CTS’s automotive business in order to bring next-generation products to market.
