Linux touchscreen display modules by Reach Technology now include a new 7″ standard resistive module—the G2H2-7R that enables engineers to easily add a variety of interfaces and ease-of-use capabilities. Powered by a G2H2 controller, the module features a panel and an integrated touch screen designed for apps requiring long term availability.
Based on Freescale i.MX 6Solo ARM Cortex-A9 core processor, the module offers connectivity options such as RS-232, CAN bus, Ethernet, USB host, USB device, I2C and GPIO. It offers a high-level integrated development environment (IDE) with drag-and-drop visual design tools. The module enables displays that look like an iPad or iPhone (scrolling, sliding, transparencies, 3D graphics, and animations), important features for medical or industrial products.
Running Embedded Linux lends stability and reliability, and designers do not need specialized Linux expertise. Quick Start Guides and development kits are available, the latter, offered at $449, includes all necessary hardware, software and support to design a prototype in days rather than months.
