A smart interceptor drone capable of downing aerial threats from short ranges has been developed by a Sweden-based startup.
According to its developers, Sweden-based Nordic Air Defense (NAD), the K100XR interceptor can detect and engage target drones in real time, promising to one day replace the expensive missiles and other munitions currently used to down enemy unmanned aerial vehicles.

Built for “high speed, autonomy, maneuverability and a low cost per kill,” the interceptor drone is just 1 foot long and capable of exceeding speeds of 219 miles per hour. The K100XR interceptor also features onboard artificial intelligence (AI), which enables the UAV to detect, track and engage aerial threats without external input.
Further, the carbon fiber-based device can operate in altitudes of up to 3,281 feet and down drones in a range of two miles.
