American semiconductor foundry SkyWater Technology has signed a licensing agreement with Infineon Technologies that will grant it access to mixed-signal ASIC design IP.
With the IP, SkyWater users can design and build mixed-signal system-on-chips (SoCs) in a secure U.S. supply chain. The IP will be released through SkyWater’s S130 platform for both commercial and defense markets at scale.
The S130 platform is a suite of mixed-signal building blocks that includes non-volatile memory options and SRAM compilers. The platform can be used for devices across a range of applications like:
- Automotive
- Industrial
- Medical
- Consumer
SkyWater said it plans to integrate the IP into its technology as a service (TaaS) model that includes electronic components like:
- Analog-to-digital converters
- Digital-to-analog converters
- Power management ICs
- Timing
- Communication modules
“By making this IP accessible, we’re enabling customers to reduce design risk, accelerate time to market, and lower development costs when building complex analog and mixed-signal ASICs — all while leveraging a mature, silicon-proven platform,” said Percy Gilbert, senior VP of engineering at SkyWater.
