Infineon and Typhoon HIL unveil plug-and-play EV test platform

05 June 2025

Infineon Technologies AG is collaborating with Typhoon HIL to develop electric vehicle (EV) power electronic systems using an integrated, real-time hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) development and test environment.

Users of the Infineon’s AURIX TC3x/TC4x automotive microcontrollers can deploy the complete HIL simulation and test solution using Typhoon’s simulator for:

  • Ultra-high fidelity motor drive
  • On-board charger
  • Battery management systems
  • Power electronics emulation

This provides a plug-and-play interface through Infineon’s TriBoard Interface Card.

The collaboration includes several Typhoon HIL simulators for real-time digital testing, a suite of testbed hardware and software tools and the TriBoard Interface Card. The solution can be plugged directly into a single row of DIN41612 connectors on the front panel of the HIL simulator.

Infineon said the solution can streamline validation workflows as well as accelerate the design and testing processes. It also reduces development costs and complexity for users.

“Developers of xEV components including motor drives, battery management systems, on-board chargers and DC-DC converters increasingly rely on controller hardware-in-the- loop (C-HIL), on top of software-in-the-loop (SIL) and simulation-based approaches, to quickly achieve results and more rapidly iterate in both prototyping and test cycles,” said Christopher Thibeault, director of partnership and ecosystem management of automotive Americas at Infineon Technologies.
