Toggled, a subsidiary of Altair, has integrated long range wide area network (LoRaWAN) sensor technology into its Toggled iQ platform, an internet of things (IoT) system for smart buildings and facilities.
The platform allows building owners and facility managers to build a private and secure network for real-time monitoring and automation. LoRaWAN allows the platform to connect to sensors even in large buildings and industrial sites through walls and floors where Wi-Fi may not be stable.
Some of the features of the iQ platform with LoRaWAN include:
- Connects to sensors up to 10 miles away
- Lowers energy consumption
- Monitors occupancy, temperature and lighting in real-time
- Detects preventive maintenance and downtime
- Connects to building management systems via BACnet IP
“By expanding our IoT capabilities, we’re empowering building owners and managers with the data and control needed to optimize efficiency, strengthen security, and advance sustainability — critical factors in today’s built environment, where climate adaptation, building resilience, and risk reduction are more important than ever,” said Jack Ivey VP of technology at Toggled.
The system can be used in applications like:
- HVAC monitoring
- Air quality tracking
- Water leak detection
- Asset optimization
- Security upgrades
The company is showcasing the platform with LoRaWAN sensors at the LightFair 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada, taking place this week.
