Australian electric vehicle (EV) startup smart has rolled out its latest all-EV, a mid-size SUV that includes advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and an intelligent cockpit.
Called #5, the EV is billed as a smart car that is designed for outdoor journeys as well as daily use. The vehicle was designed by Mercedes-Benz with smart’s input to include a panoramic halo roof and frameless doors.
Intelligent cockpit
The vehicle includes a 25.6-inch augmented reality HUD, 10.3-inch full color ultra-HD LCD instrument and dual 13-inch AMOLED 2.5K displays.
Powered by AMD’s V2000 system-on-chip, the processor uses a low-poly smart OS user interface built on the Unreal engine for real-time effects.
This also allows for generative artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities inside the vehicle. This AI, which includes in-vehicle avatars, allows drivers to ask questions and get answers from the vehicle that is connected to the internet. The AI also:
- Responds to voice commands
- Answers phone calls
- Answers texts
- Plays music and other media
- Adjusts climate controls
- Provides navigation
- Adjusts personal settings
- Offers other vehicle controls
