Excelitas Technologies introduces new PCO double shutter cameras

02 August 2024

Two new double shutter cameras from Excelitas Technologies Corp. are uniquely suited for applications across a range of high-tech industries. The cameras are engineered to provide the shortest possible interframing time in double shutter mode, allowing users to capture rapid, sequential events with unparalleled precision.

The pco.edge 5.5 DS CLHS camera features a high resolution of 5.5 MPixel and offers a dynamic range of 16 bit for precise imaging. The pco.edge 5.5 DS CLHS camera adds outstanding precision for accurate, detailed imagery of fast-moving subjects in a wide range of applications, such as particle image velocimetry (PIV), particle tracking velocimetry (PTV), wafer inspection and many others. Additional features of the pco.edge 5.5 DS CLHS camera include:

  • Resolution: 2560 pixels x 2160 pixels
  • Maximum frame rate at full resolution: 25 fps (double shutter)
  • Pixel size: 6.5 µm x 6.5 µm
  • Interframing time: 100 ns
  • 10 G fiber-optic CLHS FOL data interface
  • Shutter type: Global shutter, double shutter

The pco.edge 26 DS CLHS camera offers high-speed, high-resolution streaming by combining the image quality of a charge domain global shutter, 26 MPixel image sensor with fast and efficient data transfer. Additional features include:

  • Resolution: 5120 pixels x 5120 pixels
  • Maximum frame rate at full resolution: 74 fps (double shutter)
  • Pixel size: 2.5 μm x 2.5 μm
  • Interframing time: 350 ns
  • 10 G fiber-optic CLHS FOL data interface
  • Shutter type: Global shutter, double shutter

This camera is ideal for PIV and PTV applications, among others, including flow visualization in gaseous and liquid media and wind tunnel experiments. Alexander Gruenig, managing director advanced imaging systems at Excelitas said, “Both pco.edge double shutter cameras provide significantly more accurate, detailed imagery recording for applications requiring exceptional detail and speed. This level of detail enables users to closely examine processes and objects for fine-tuning, helping to drive continuous improvement across all kinds of industries.”
