Sony Semiconductor Israel’s ALT1250 chipset has been accepted under Skylo Technologies Certification Program allowing it to be used for devices in Skylo’s satellite network.
The certification enhances the chipset capability for dual cellular and satellite communication to facilitate internet of things (IoT) and global communications solutions. The certification also signifies the ALT1250 chipset passed testing and evaluation for connectivity, power efficiency and reliability.
The certification allows devices that are equipped with the ALT1250 chipset to operate on the Skylo satellite network for applications such as:
- Remote tracking and sensing
- IoT devices
- Wearables
- Global communication
The goal is to accelerate the deployment of satellite connected IoT solutions globally for a host of industries like fleet management, logistics, agriculture and more.
“This achievement under the Skylo Certification Program is no small feat,” said Prasanna Iyengar, senior director of product management for Skylot. “Sony’s Altair had to pass rigorous testing to ensure reliability, efficiency and seamless integration for efficient operations over Skylo's satellite network. It marks a significant milestone in IoT and wearables connectivity, enabling manufacturers to effortlessly incorporate NTN connectivity into their devices without the need for additional hardware modifications. This ensures that NTN is not just a feature but the foundation of ubiquitous connectivity.”
