Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company is teaming with TDK Corp. to bring a new tire sensing system to the market that will feature intelligent hardware and software for tires.
The system will integrate TDK’s software, sensor and electronic components with Goodyear’s tire development and intelligent solutions.
Currently, the companies are conducting market research and exploration into the join solution to provide vehicle performance, safety and efficiency.
TDK said the need for real-time intelligence on the road and specifically in tires is becoming a greater need as the automotive industry continues to invest in technologically viable options for safety features.
For Goodyear, the deal will help with future vehicles that will be smarter, safer and sustainable.
“Collaborations like this one can play a critical role in achieving these objectives,” said Chris Helsel, senior VP of global operations and CTO at Goodyear.
