Kontron introduces SOSA-aligned 3U VPX embedded computing card for harsh-environment defense and avionics

13 September 2023

Germany-based Kontron AG has introduced the VX307H 3U VPX plug-in card for high-performance embedded computing in harsh-environment defense, avionics and transportation applications.

Designed to meet Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA) specifications, it is based on the Intel Xeon D-2700 processor with availability in 12-, 16- and 20-core versions.

The VX307H 3U VPX embedded computing card is roughly 2.97 times faster than the previous generation and adapts to small size, weight, power and cost (SWaP-C) blade applications.

Features include VITA 48.8 air-flow-through (AFT) cooling and specialized built-in instructions for artificial intelligence (AI) and digital signal processing.

Connectivity options include 100 Gigabit Ethernet and around 16 PCI Express Gen4 interconnects to avoid expansion-plane bottlenecks for high-density computing in command, control, communications, computers, cyber, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C5ISR).

The VX307H reportedly offers long-term availability with 10 years typical life cycle. For more information, visit Kontron’s website.
