Taiwanese chipmaker MediaTek and Nvidia Corp. are collaborating to bring their automotive portfolios for a range of in-vehicle artificial intelligence cabin solutions.
The goal is to create a platform for the automotive industry to design next generation intelligent, always-connected vehicles. The platform would utilize artificial intelligence and accelerated computing for new user experiences, enhanced safety and connected services for all vehicle segments from luxury to mainstream, the companies said.
Under the deal, MediaTek will develop automotive system-on-chips (SoCs) integrating Nvidia’s GPU chiplet with AI and graphics IP. The smart cabin automotive offerings will run Nvidia Drive OS, Drive IX, Cuda and TensorRT software technologies.
MediaTek will use its Dimensity Auto platform with Nvidia’s advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) solutions to deliver all-around smarter in-vehicle experiences, the companies said.
The companies are looking to capitalize on the market for infotainment and instrument cluster SoCs used in vehicles reaching $12 billion this year, according to market research firm Gartner.
