A pair of relative pressure sensor ICs with robustness has been introduced by Melexis as part of its PCB-less family of devices.

The sensors, called MLX90823 and MLX90825, are pressure sensors that can be used in gauge mode or in a differential mode as well as measure the pressure difference between the two sides of the sensor. The devices are intended to measure pressure spanning from 0.1 to 1.5 bar.

Melexis said the pressure sensor family covers all internal combustion engine (ICE) management applications such as:

  • Fuel vapor and crankcase ventilation
  • EGR, GPF/DPF.
  • Secondary air injection
  • (T)MAP

The two pressures sensors consist of a sensor readout circuit, digital hardware, voltage regulators, SENT or analog output drivers, essential passive components, overvoltage and reverse voltage protection and offer a temperature range of -40° C to 160° C.

The MEMS sensing element consists of micro-machined diaphragm etched into a silicon substrate, piezo-resistive elements and a 16 bit digital signal processing temperature compensation.
