Drone delivery vendor Flytrex has announced its aviation partner Causey Aviation Unmanned (CAU) was granted Standard Part 135 Air Carrier Certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The certification allows Flytrex to operate and complete long-range on-demand commercial drone deliveries in the U.S. Additionally, the certification allows Flytrex and CAU to expand drone delivery service nationwide for food, drinks and other goods to more than 82 million eligible consumers.
The only drone companies that have received this certification include Amazon Prime Air, Alphabet’s Wing, UPS, Matternet and Zipline. One air taxi vendor in Joby has also recently received the FAA Standard Part 135.
“We live in an era of instant gratification, where consumers want to get their food or goods faster, more reliably, more economically and more sustainably – and drone delivery has risen to the occasion,” said Yariv Bash, CEO and cofounder of Flytrex. “Flytrex’s continued success delivering to customers throughout North Carolina and Texas has put us ahead of the curve. With this certification, we look forward to bringing our super swift, sustainable and safe airborne delivery systems to every backyard across the US.”
In July of 2022, Flytrex got approved for expansion of drone delivery service up to two nautical miles, which had the potential to reach about 100,000 eligible customers across all operating stations. Currently, Flytrex operates drone delivery service in Granbury, Texas, and in Durham, Fayetteville, Raeford and Holly Springs, North Carolina.
Flytrex’s drones operate in cooperation with CAU to deliver tens of thousands of items to homes in both states.
