BroadWave's fixed attenuators help reduce power consumption in radar and communications

04 February 2023

Indiana-based BroadWave Technologies Inc. has introduced its model series 351-354-XXX line of 50 ohm fixed attenuators for aerospace and defense radar, base stations, telecommunications and test equipment.

The fixed attenuators are rated 30 W average power with a 1.20:1 maximum voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR). The operating frequency range is DC to 1 GHz, and standard attenuation values are 3, 6, 10, 20 and 30 decibels. The attenuators operate in temperatures from -55° C to 70° C, and the RF connectors are TNC female.

The devices are designed for analyzing harmonic signals or isolating a device under test, and can reportedly help reduce the amount of power delivered in a transmission line without introducing significant noise or distortion.
