Qualcomm Technologies Inc. has introduced what it claims is the first Wi-Fi 7 plus Bluetooth module.
Called the FastConnect 7800, the device includes high band simultaneous (HBS) multi-link technology, a solution to provide capability for Wi-Fi 7 networks to access multiple 5 GHz and 6 GHz connections to deliver fast connections at low latency. It also reserves high traffic 2.4 GHz spectrum for Bluetooth and lower-bandwidth Wi-Fi.
HBS multi-link simultaneously uses two Wi-Fi radios for four streams of high band connectivity in 5 GHz or 6 GHz. The module supports all multi-link modes and HBS multi-link can be used to minimize latency and interference and achieve jitter-free connections and fast speeds using 320 MHz channels in the 6 GHz spectrum or 240 MHz channels of globally available 5 GHz spectrum.
FastConnect 7800 uses Snapdragon sound, Bluetooth LE audio and Bluetooth 5.3 with intelligent dual Bluetooth that allows for two radios with enhanced connections to work up to twice the range and pair in half the time.
Qualcomm is targeting the device for notebooks, smartphones, tablets, smart glasses and metaverse equipment.
