AutoX is using the wirelessly powered sensors from Spark Connected for its Level 4 autonomous vehicles.

The first generation Beast sensors have been integrated into AutoX’s model year 2021 vehicles and Beast 2.0 was recently introduced with Qi 1.3 capability. The higher power automotive grade Phoenix is the latest wirelessly powered automotive sensor designed for self-driving vehicles.

The sensors in AutoX vehicles will be used to perceive and understand the world around it, a critical function to driverless vehicles. AutoX is developing robotaxis for the Chinese automotive industry with a self-driving platform designed to handle traffic scenarios in urban cities.

Currently, AutoX is the only company in China operating a fully driverless robotaxi on public roads in China. The program that is currently running in Shenzhen and began earlier this year, provides ride-hailing services to the public without a human safety driver in tow, one of the first driverless programs in the world.

AutoX also recently received a permit to begin testing its autonomous vehicles in California.

The wirelessly powered sensors include:

  • Fast charging of smartphones.
  • Support for future products and standards.
  • Backward compatibility with low-power and legacy devices.
  • WPC Qi v1.3 15 W EPP certified.
  • Fixed frequency architecture for automotive requirements.
  • Full power charging with a 6 to 19 V input supply.
  • Supports multi-coil configurations.
  • Standard three coil, two coil and single coil solutions.
  • Single MCU for wireless charging, system application, CAN and external NFC interfaces.
