This just in: Tektronix Inc. has announced new features for cloud-based asset management software CalWeb that, according to the company, will streamline the management of calibration and repair services for large fleets of test and measurement equipment.
By allowing calibration and repair histories and related documentation to be viewed in a single place, CalWeb offers a solution to what can typically be a time-consuming, manual process. Information is stored securely and is globally accessible from any computer or mobile device.
The new upgrades, spread over four key functions, offer access to additional information and can integrate smoothly with existing systems.
The new functions include:
- Barcode creation, printing and scanning: CalWeb can create and print barcodes to tag equipment and correlate it to chosen database fields. A smartphone or barcode scanner can then be used to view calibration history and certificates, repair history and other information.
- Integration through CalWeb REST API: The secure REST API enables CalWeb to integrate with existing in-house IT systems. The REST API is programming-language agnostic and features standard HTTP request function calls with Swagger and Postman API development tool sandboxes.
- Report generation tool: Customized reports on any assets managed through CalWeb can be created, run and downloaded with a button click, potentially eliminating manual spreadsheets and hours of analysis. The tool’s flexible functionality also enables creation of both ad-hoc and scheduled reports.
- Expanded equipment management capability: Users of CalWeb can now receive automatic notifications when any of their test and measurement equipment is due for calibration.
Moreover, the integration possibilities of CalWeb extend beyond Tektronix brand products; the software can be used to manage equipment from any manufacturer. The company, based in Beaverton, Oregon, has positioned itself as a “strategic partner for calibration services” by delivering tailored solutions that have achieved accredited or compliant calibrations on over 140,000 different electronic test and measurement equipment models from more than 9,000 manufacturers.
CalWeb is also compliant with the FDA’s 21 CFR Parts 11 and 820, making it a viable calibration program management system for users in regulated industries that impact human health and safety.
