Machine learning module accelerates AI IoT systems

21 May 2021

To accelerate the push for artificial intelligence and the internet of things, referred to as the AI of Things (AIoT), Infineon Technologies AG has introduced its ModusToolbox machine learning module.

The toolbox includes middleware, software libraries and special tools to evaluate and deploy deep learning-based machine learning models. These models can then be integrated into secure AIoT systems.

According to Markets and Markets, the AIoT market is expected to increase to $16.2 billion by 2024 up from $5.1 billion in 2019 with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 26%.

“As the IoT scales, massive amounts of data are being generated at the edge,” said Steve Tateosian, vice president of IoT compute and wireless at Infineon. “Enabled by TinyML, AIoT is a natural evolution, where acting on data locally helps manage data privacy, latency and overall system reliability. ModusToolbox bridges a critical gap between machine learning and embedded systems design by providing flexible tools and modular libraries to easily optimize, validate and deploy deep learning models from popular training frameworks on Infineon’s ultra-low power microcontrollers.”
