A new laundry service has launched that will allow consumers to have their dirty laundry picked up and delivered by drone.
Called Laundry Drone, the service from U.K. vendor Laundrapp will work with commercial suppliers to develop a framework for drone delivery, offering service in as little as 24 hours. The company will explore current and future technology for an environmentally friendly and economical service to customers.
Laundrapp has been collecting, laundering and returning items to home and office in about 48 hours. This is the first foray into drone delivery that provides the collection and delivery of laundry cleaning services in a contact-free way. The service will pick up anything from suits, shirts and dresses to coats, baby clothes, bedding, towels and other household items.
“We’re committed to investing into the future of our services and our customers, and we’re looking to open up the discussion with drone suppliers, safety experts and customers, the latter who will be able to trial the service when we launch,” said Allan Warburton, managing director of Laundrapp.
