Offering a claimed 30 times performance improvement over its predecessor, Innoviz Technologies Ltd. has introduced a solid-state lidar for new robotaxis and self-driving shuttles and delivery vans.
In addition to offering better performance, the InnovizTwo lidar sensor offers a 70% reduction in cost for any type of vehicle. The device is an automotive-grade, mass producible sensor that includes a new detector, scanner and multiple advances in the optical packaging and the electric design, Innoviz said.
Features include an extended field of view (FOV) of 125° x 40° with an increased native resolution of 0.07° x 0.05°, over 8,000 lines each second. Other features include a range of more than 300 m with the ability to see small, dark objects with 10% reflectivity at more than 220 m under strong sun conditions.
A perception platform is embedded into the InnovizTwo for object detection and classification of cars, pedestrians and motorcycles providing shape, orientation, velocity, acceleration and occlusion status. The sensor also provides ASIL B functional safety, full temperature range of -40° C to 95° C, AUTOSAR, ASPICE, automotive Ethernet interface and cyber protection. Finally, the InnovizTwo has a configurable FOV, region of interest and frame rate allowing for scenario configuration.
