Israeli lidar vendor Innoviz Technologies Ltd. has unveiled a new sensor designed to improve performance and lower the cost of lidar for several use cases.

The Innoviz360 lidar features:

  • Up to 1280 scanning lines per frame
  • Configurable frame rate
  • 300 m of range

The lidar includes a single laser, detector and ASIC that will benefit the economy of scale, the company said. Innoviz said this lidar overcomes existing spinning barriers of sensor that are limited due to performance, expensive and may be too large for applications.

The Innoviz360’s vertical field of view and reduced cost helps automotive OEMs to achieve Level 4-5 automation in applications like robotaxis, shuttles, trucks and delivery vehicles. Additionally, the lidar could be used in non-automotive applications such as heavy machinery, smart cities, logistics, construction, maritime and more.
