Hyundai Motor Group will begin to use Nvidia’s Drive systems in its entire lineup of vehicles beginning in 2022.
Each vehicle in Hyundai’s Kia and Genesis line will come standard with the Drive in-vehicle infotainment systems. The Drive platform includes a hardware and software stack allowing vehicles to include audio, video, navigation, connectivity and artificial intelligence-enhanced connected car services.
Nvidia said advances in AI and accelerated computing have opened the door for next-generation cars to add enhanced safety features and functionality that allows for a centralized, software-defined computing architecture.
Hyundai and Nvidia have been collaborating on infotainment systems since 2015 and will release a new advanced digital cockpit in late 2021 for vehicles. The inclusion of the Drive system in Hyundai’s fleet will integrate the capacity to support future apps and features to the vehicle as they are developed.
The Drive technology will also enable Hyundai to roll out its connected car operating system across future models. The in-house OS is expected to bring together a large amount of data generated by the vehicle and its network of sensors as well as external connected car data centers for better driver and passenger experiences, Nvidia said. The operating system uses an integrated architecture for connected car systems, an open platform for a wide range of partners to provide relevant services to owners.
