European telecom Post Luxembourg went live with its 5G network earlier this month using Ericsson to deploy the next generation wireless technology. Now, the companies have expanded their partnership with Post Luxembourg signing a multiyear deal to deploy 5G Core and 5G radio access network (RAN) in Luxembourg.
The technology will serve both standalone (SA) 5G and non-standalone (NSA) 5G and includes the modernization of Post Luxembourg’s existing 2G, 3G and 4G networks. Existing networks are being upgraded for Post Luxembourg to deploy its 5G network without service interruptions.
Ericsson will deploy its cloud-native dual-mode 5G Core solution to allow the telecom to meet increasing data demands and open new opportunities for 5G services to consumers such as low-latency gaming and 8k video streaming. The network will also create opportunities with enterprises and industry with new internet of things (IoT) capabilities.
The 5G RAN deployment will include products and solutions from the Ericsson Radio System portfolio including Ericsson Spectrum Sharing and Ketherin Mobile Communication antennas as well as Ericsson Cloud Native Infrastructure solution.
Ericsson has so far made 113 commercial 5G agreements and contracts including 65 live commercial 5G networks.
