The LCR-Reader-MPA launched as an all-in-one digital multimeter by Siborg Systems in 2019 has been re-engineered as a lighter weight instrument now featuring an oscilloscope mode and ring coil test option. The inductance, capacitance and resistance (LCR) measurement device offers quick, high accuracy testing for surface mount technology applications with little or no set-up between measurements.
The multimeter offers 0.1% basic accuracy and 00 kHz test signal, AC/DC current/voltage testing and pulse/signal/duty testing functionality. The MPA can automatically determine the type of component and test parameters, and main impedance, secondary, component type and test frequency values are available on the

The ring coil tester finds short turns in a coil based on the Gibbs phenomenon, or the response of the system to a step excitation. When a capacitor is connected across a coil and a pulse is applied to the parallel circuit, the waveform across the resonant circuit will create a decaying oscillation, with at least a few cycles if the coil is functioning. The oscillations will be strongly damped and only complete one to two cycles if there is a shorted turn in any of the magnetically coupled coils of the device.
The MPA can be deployed to test using 100 kHz test frequency, which allows for a 0.001 F resolution for capacitance and 0.1 nH for inductance measurements. Test signal levels of 0.1, 0.5 and 1 V rms are available, with the 1 V rms deemed crucial for accuracy while testing ceramic capacitors.
