Impossible Foods has recently earned attention for its plant-based beef, even among fast-food chains, and now the food tech startup is unveiling its latest food innovation called Impossible Pork, a plant-based version of the other white meat, at CES 2020.

Impossible Pork is a gluten-free, plant-based ground meat that can be used to make spring rolls, stuffed vegetable dumplings, wontons, sausages or anything that calls for ground pork from pigs. The pork contains no animal hormones or antibiotics and contains 16 g of protein, 3 mg of iron, 0 mg of cholesterol, 13 g of total fat, 7 g of saturated fat and 220 calories per 4 oz serving.

Impossible Foods said the plant-based pork can be cooked in a steamer, oven, charbroiler, flat-top grill or sauté pan.

At CES 2020, the company also launched the first Impossible Sausage for a breakfast sandwich that will be available at Burger King chains for a limited time starting in January.

According to the company, the footprint for raising animals for food occupies 45% of the land surface of the Earth. For scale, buildings, roads and paved surfaces occupy less than 2% of the Earth’s land surface. Likewise, animal agriculture is the primary driver of the collapse in diverse wildlife populations and ecosystems on land, oceans, lakes and rivers, explained Impossible Foods. The company believes that if fewer animals are raised for food, the ecosystem will improve.
