T-Mobile claims it has achieved the first nationwide 5G coverage, covering more than 200 million people and more than 5,000 cities and towns across the U.S.
The network covers more than 1 million square miles, including some in rural America, when the Sprint merger closes. The T-Mobile network covers more than 60% of the population, which the company said is 20,000% more towns than Verizon or AT&T. However, this does not mean the company will service all of those customers, but rather that it has the potential to if everyone had a 5G smartphone and was in the coverage area.
T-Mobile has also made available two new 5G smartphones for pre-order including the OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren and the Samsung Galaxy Note10+ 5G. Both smartphones will use Sprint’s 5G spectrum when it is available and when the T-Mobile merger closes. Additionally, Metro by T-Mobile will launch what it claims is the first nationwide prepaid 5G.
The OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren device includes a 6.67 in QHD display with a 90 Hz refresh rate with three rear cameras and a 4085 mAh battery. The Samsung Galaxy Note10+ 5G includes a 6.8 in cinematic infinity display, four rear cameras and a 4300 mAh battery. The Note10+ includes an enhanced S Pen and Wireless PowerShare capabilities.
