Nokia has signed an agreement with New Zealand telecom Spark to deploy 5G technology across the company’s 5G network.
The agreement is the Finnish company’s 50th design win for radio access network (RAN) equipment as it will deploy its AirScale RAN solution at more than 200 sites in New Zealand. Nokia said it will also deploy other products and services from its portfolio including digital design and deployment services.
The agreement follows the launch from earlier this year of New Zealand’s first 5G trial customer service, which took place in Alexandra, South Island, which used the latest Nokia radio equipment for consumers to receive high-speed wireless broadband for 5G. Nokia is working to deploy 5G capability to an additional five sites by the end of the year.
Nokia is now providing equipment for 16 live networks globally.
