Taoglas acquires IoT product design startup

07 August 2019

Antenna vendor Taoglas has acquired Firmwave, a maker of internet of things (IoT) products, to deliver next-generation IoT applications for healthcare, energy and utilities, supply chain and logistics, transportation, agriculture and construction.

The companies will seek to advance engineering challenges such as facial recognition, centimeter-level positioning, audio-like speech recognition and artificial intelligence for motion sensing and analysis.

The acquisition comes after a previous collaboration between the companies. Firmwave helped Taoglas develop Taoglas Shift, an artificial intelligence beam-steering antenna system for 5G networks. The companies also previously collaborated on custom IoT projects such as medical device maker HealthBeacon.
