Panasonic Expands US Battery Product Line at its Georgia Manufacturing Facility

08 October 2018

Panasonic, one of the world’s leading battery manufacturing companies, is expanding its manufacturing capabilities in the United States. The CR-2/3AZ lithium primary battery currently manufactured in Indonesia will also be produced in Columbus, Georgia, by the end of 2018.

The CR-2/3AZ cell offers important features, including: superior reliability, up to ten years; and high current pulse discharge capability. The cell utilizes manganese-based cathode material to deliver better temperature tolerance to operate in harsh environments. It is ideal for smoke alarms, carbon monoxide sensors and meters, as well as a variety of other applications requiring longer life.

“This move will benefit customers in a variety of ways including lower transportation costs and more timely customer support," says Kanji Kawakami, chief engineer for OEM and industrial batteries at Panasonic.

Panasonic’s product line includes lithium-ion, lithium coin, lithium primary cylindrical, nickel metal hydride, valve regulated lead acid and alkaline batteries.
