Outperforming its original range expectations, a zero-emission, all-electric transit bus designed by GreenPower Motor Company Inc. recently traveled 205 miles using only 50 percent of its battery power.

The EV350 was recently purchased by Porterville Transit, and was driven under its own power from the San Joaquin Valley to Newport Beach, California, to showcase the vehicle at the Spring 2018 Conference of the California Association for Coordinated Transportation (CALACT). The trip included traversing the steep hills of the Grapevine community at the southern end of the San Joaquin Valley — a considerably more challenging route than a typical transit cycle.

GreenPower, an electric bus manufacturer that designs, builds and distributes a full suite of high- and low-floor vehicles, expects to deliver eight more buses to Porterville by summer.
